Gramolazzo lake

The Gramolazzo lake, which takes its name from the village on its left bank, is an artificial reservoir, created in the second half of the 1900s, together with the nearby Vagli lake, by SELT Valdarno for the hydroelectric exploitation of the Serchio river and its tributaries. It is currently managed by Enel Produzione Spa. It boasts an area of approx 1 sqkm.
Another important stream that flows into the lake is the Acqua Bianca stream which crosses the town of Gorfigliano, coming from Mount Pisanino.

The lake basin is further fed by a canal that introduces, on the left bank, waters that are collected in the Sillano valley. Lake Gramolazzo, in turn, feeds the Vagli reservoir through a pipeline located on the right bank.

In recent years, the Municipal Administration has carried out an important tourist redevelopment and enhancement project on the left bank which led to the inauguration of the Lake Park in 2016, which includes a pedestrian cycle track, facilities for hosting picnics and barbecues, a fitness area, a beach and a small pier. Further interventions are also planned on the right bank of the lake until the completion of a ring around the perimeter of the reservoir.
