Garfagnana
Castles, green forests, mountains and valleys
Garfagnana is a territory in the province of Lucca, in Tuscany, between the Apuan Alps and the main chain of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, entirely crossed by the Serchio river and its many tributaries, and rich in woods.
Nature in Garfagnana dominates unchallenged, with pristine forests and peaks that exceed 2000 meters. The highest point in Tuscany is located in Garfagnana: Mount Prado that reaches 2054 meters in height. Giuncugnano, at 885 meters, is instead the highest village.
Garfagnana offers a lot of opportunities for people who love to spend their holidays outdoors, hiking or mountain biking, but also wonderful places to visit, such as the Grotta del Vento, Borgo a Mozzano and its legendary Ponte del Diavolo or the ghost village of Vagli di Sotto.
