Bergiola

Bergiola is a small medieval village totally abandoned following the earthquake of 1920, located not far from the hamlet of Pieve San Lorenzo in the municipality of Minucciano (LU), at 500 meters above sea level, along an ancient road now reduced to a path.

It has the classic perched and fortified structure spread between Lunigiana and Garfagnana and, even today, thanks to some restoration works, it is possible to appreciate a stretch of paved road, the remains of some houses and castle walls, a church and a well: a suggestive witness from the past.
